Keys to Your Success

Today, I would like to give you information on how to secure your future, how to survive during the upcoming economic challenges, and how to prosper during these times because it is one of the best opportunities in the world.

The first key to success is; who do you listen to? Most people listen to their stupid brother-in-law. I mean think about it, most people listen to idiots. You go on the internet and believe the internet. The internet is filled with lies and bias. It is not true. It has been estimated in research studies that 95% of information on the internet is factually not true. It is opinions that people have. Who do you listen to? Do you listen to the professor at college? I remember I audited a class in college when I was younger. I went to this class at Harvard University Business School. I went to Harvard because I never went to the college and audited this class. I sat in because a buddy of mine was the quarterback of the Harvard football team. This professor goes up on the stage, and this is a scene right out of Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield, and he says, “There are four things you must do if you want to be successful in business. You must do this, this, this, and this.” I am thinking, Oh! My God, I never did these things! So, I was taking fastidious notes and then he says, “There four things that you must never do in business; it will guarantee failure. They are this, this, this, and this.” I am thinking, Oh! My God, I do those all the time! Thank God I am in this class and everything he is saying makes so much logical sense! I am so impressed with his delivery, his information, his logical nature. So, I raised my hand and said, “I’m sorry to interrupt, but I’m really enjoying what you’re saying and it makes so much logical sense to me. I’m so glad that I’m here and so thankful to be here to get this information. I am just curious. What businesses do you actually own?” He says, “Well, I don’t own any businesses.” I am thinking, Oh my God, the guy is so wealthy, he is young, he made so much money early on, he sold his businesses and retired now. He is teaching! So, I said, “Wow, that’s great. What businesses did you own? Where did make all your money?” And he said, “Well, I never owned a business.” I just sat there looking at him and I said, “Wait a minute, you never owned a business?” He states, “That’s correct.” I said, “With all due respect, what qualifies you to teach this class?” He said, “I am a PhD.” What the hell does that mean?! How is that supposed to help people become successful?!

So, who do you listen to? That is the first thing. Most people listen to the wrong folks. You have to listen to people who have what you want and who have been where you are. I listened to people who had what I wanted, people that had more than me. So, what do you want? If it is money, then you have to find somebody who is wealthy. If it is health, find someone who is super healthy. Does that make sense?

The second key to success is; are you teachable? Most people are not teachable. On a scale 1 to 10, how teachable are you? There is a Teachability Index. The first part is, what is your willingness to learn? The second part is, what is your willingness to accept change? Folks, if you want things in your life to change, you are going to have to change things in your life. Think about that. If you want things in your life to change, you have to change things in your life. If you continue to think and do what you always thought and done, you will continue to have what you always got. You got to change. If you don’t have the dreams you want in life… if you don’t have the money… if you have goals and dreams that have been realized, but you are struggling and are frustrated and are impatient because it is not happening… then you are doing something wrong. How teachable are you?

The next key to success is the training balance scale. There are two parts to the training balance scale. The first part is your thinking, your thoughts. Remember the book, Think & Grow Rich? It was not Work Hard & Grow Rich. It is Think & Grow Rich. Your thoughts create reality. Your brain is a transmitter and receiver of frequency. You have to work on your thinking. You have to get your thinking right, or your vibration right, or your broadcast frequency right because whatever you have is based on what you are broadcasting. Your thinking is the key. Without it nothing will happen. On the other side of the training balance scale is the technique or the skills. You must know what to do. You must know the techniques and skills are not as important. The thinking is more important. If you know every skill and technique in the world, but your thinking is wrong and you do everything correctly technique-wise, you still won’t achieve success. If your thinking is right, but you know nothing, you still can achieve success. When you combine them together, it is a parallel success combination.

Next is Napoleon Hill's secret of success; define your dream and get a burning desire for its achievement. What do you want? What is your dream? Do you want a new car? Want a new house? Want to pay off all your bills? Want a monthly income of $10,000, or $20,000 a month? You want to be financially free and independent? You want to travel first class around the world? Want to go to Paris or Hawaii? Do you want to upgrade your home, redo your house, get a new big huge television? What do you want? What is your dream? You want better health? What is your dream? Want to be happy or more secure? Want to prepare for your kids’ college education or just have security in your life financially? What is your dream? Define your dream and get a burning desire for its achievement.

The next success principle is that you must take action. Bill Gates said it best on the Larry King Show when they asked him what the secret of success is. He said, number one, the timing. I was at the right place at the right time. Number two, vision. I saw the vision. I saw the potential in the computer industry. But number three, most importantly, I took massive and immediate action. Losers sit in a couch. Winners take action and they take action now.

Next, in order to make this happen, there are five basic things you should participate in. In The Global Information Network, it is a part of what we call “the system.” The first one is audios. You have to have relationships with people that are likeminded, positive, enthusiastic and goal-oriented, who are like you. You want to surround yourself with people who have goals and dreams and wanna make them come true. If you don’t have those relationships, you need to be part of a club or group to have it. And fifth is recognition. You must be recognized on a regular basis for your accomplishments. It is a biological, emotional need that we all have. You need to be part of a club or group that gives recognition to you and you have to give recognition to others. Giving and receiving recognition is an amazingly powerful little known secret to success.

--The Critical Divide--

Between your CONSCIOUS and SUBCONSCIOUS mind there is a division

called the "Critical Factor". The Critical Factor takes what the

CONSCIOUS mind is thinking and then seeks approval from the

SUBCONSCIOUS mind to pass the information along. Sometimes it

allows it to be delivered and sometimes it does not.

Many say we develop this Critical Factor at about age six. Prenatal

and neonatal brains operate predominantly in Delta and Theta EEG

frequencies through the first six years of our lives. This level

of brain activity is also referred to as the hypnotic state.

While in this hypnotic state, children do not have to be actively

coached into specific beliefs. They develop a core belief system

simply by observing and interacting with parents, siblings, peers,

teachers, religion and television.

Up about age six we are learning things very quickly. If you observe

children you can see how quickly they are able to pick up new information.

This is because the Critical Factor is not developed.

As we age it becomes more important to exercise caution to know

How to Make a Strong First Impression

We have all heard this warning: "You never get a second chance to make a good first impression." Also, psychologists, writers, and seminar leaders caution that we only have from seven to seventeen seconds of interacting with strangers before they form an opinion of us.

With this widely acknowledged pressure to "make our case" instantly, here are my seven tips for making your first impression strongly positive.

1. The greatest way to make a positive first impression is to demonstrate immediately that the other person--not you--is the center of action and conversation. Illustrate that the spotlight is on you only, and you'll miss opportunities for friendships, jobs, love relationships, networking, and sales. Show that you are other-centered, and first-time acquaintances will be eager to see you again.

Recently I attended a conference. At lunch, my wife and I sat with several people we didn't know. While most of our tablemates made good impressions, one man emerged as the person we'd be sure to avoid all weekend. He talked about himself, non-stop. Only rarely did anyone else get a chance to speak. Unfortunately, he probably thought he was captivating us with his life story.

I applaud this definition of a bore: "Somebody who talks about himself so much that you don't get to talk about yourself."

2. Closely related: You'll make a superb initial impression when you demonstrate good listening skills. Give positive verbal cues: "Hmmm... interesting!" "Tell me more, please." "What did you do next?" Just as actors benefit from prompts, your conversational partner will welcome your assistance in keeping the exchange going.

Nonverbally, you show you're a skilled listener by maintaining steady eye contact. Remember how you respond to the social gadabout who appears to be looking over your shoulder for the next person he wants to corner.

3. Use the name of a new acquaintance frequently. "Judy, I like that suggestion." "Your vacation must have been exciting, Fred." You show that you have paid attention from the start, catching the name during the introduction. Equally as important, you'll make conversations more personal by including the listener's name several times.

4. Be careful with humor. Although a quip or two might serve as an icebreaker, stay away from sarcastic remarks that could backfire. Because you don't know a stranger's sensitivities, prolonged joking might establish barriers you can't overcome, either now or later.

5. Follow Dr. Wayne Dyer's advice, offered in his wonderful book "Real Magic," by "giving up the need to be right." Confrontations with somebody you've just met will destroy rapport before you even start building it. Wait until you have established credibility before you challenge another's statements.

6. Appearance counts. Several years ago, a professional colleague offered to meet me for lunch. I decided against wearing a suit, opting for a sport coat and tie. When he showed up in shorts and sandals, the message he conveyed was: "Bill, meeting you is a rather ordinary experience, and doesn't call for me to present a business-like appearance." Not surprisingly, that was the last time I met with him.

True, standards for appropriate attire have changed drastically. Maybe the best advice I can share came from a participant in a seminar I conducted. She said, "I don't dress for the job I have now, I dress for the job I want to have."

7. As a communication specialist, I have to point out that an individual's speaking style impacts the first impression, maybe more than we wish. Listeners judge our intelligence, our cultural level, our education, even our leadership ability by the words we select--and by how we say them.

Think of Professor Henry Higgins of "My Fair Lady," who changed a "guttersnipe" into a lady by teaching her to speak skillfully. While none of us occupies the lowly level of Eliza Doolittle, we can keep her example in mind. Rather than mumble, speak so you're easily heard. Enunciate clearly. Alter your pitch, to avoid the dullness of a monotone. Display animation in both voice and facial expression. Gesture naturally, without "canning" your movements.

Keep these seven tips in mind. They will reduce your fear of business and social encounters with unfamiliar faces. Do not wait for another day because the future is now. Perhaps you have heard some of the techniques and strategies for accomplishing goals before but oftentimes we have to hear them again. A simple and easy acronym to recall is “smart” goals. These smart goals actually stand for specific, measurable, action-oriented and attainable, realistic and time-specific.

Someone already applied these techniques and methods in becoming a motivational inspirational speaker. These simple tips produce incredible results if you follow and practice them constantly. Whether you aspire to expand your business, take a long awaited vacation, increase and boost your sales, or simply to be more physically fit.

Each person dreams or aspires of attaining success. Try to look at your objectives and dreams daily and jot down those specific steps of action. Keep them in your wallet as a reminder.

1. Specific goals— write down an appropriate affirmation for your every goal on any piece of paper after you jot down all your specific smart goals. You can begin with the words, “I am”. “I am” makes your affirmation positive, personal and in the present tense. Then, insert a feeling positive adverb like, “easily” or “happily”. After that, add an action word or verb. Include a particular year and month for when you will like it to have reached that goal.

2. Measurable goals—you can in fact be as measurable and specific as you can include things like a particular sales goal, a job title promotion, or the number of pounds you want to lose…or gain. Think and write down a specific date. For instance, one of my colleague’s affirmation way back in 2000 was, “I am happily interviewing famous movie stars and celebrities all over Southeast Asia by April 2001.

3. Action-oriented and attainable smart goals. Almost all athletes bound for Olympics do this because they know that it’s effective and it reaps favorable results! At the back of the piece of paper or index card, I spent several minutes each day just writing down some action steps on how I could possibly attain this goal. Then, I imagined or visualized myself taking action and achieving it.

4. Realistic smart goals—for a close friend of mine, it might sound quite unrealistic that one of his objectives was to do business in Hawaii. But, having talked to some motivational and inspirational speakers who conduct conferences in Hawaii, he knew and realized that this was a realistic goal, and have achieved it since.

5. Realistic time frames on goals—my friend knew it was going to take time to prepare and distribute demo videos to speakers’ bureaus, so he gave actually gave himself ample time--10 months to accomplish his objective of becoming a motivational and inspirational speaker. In the end, greater success is highly possible if you practice the steps above and take action on your desired targets.

Then, imagine how it would feel to have already achieved those goals. Well, ultimately goals indeed are nothing without action. As Colleen Kettenhofen said, “Set a specific goal and take action because goals alone are nothing without action.”

In the book What They Don't Teach You in the Harvard Business School, Mark McCormack tells of a study conducted on students in the 1979 Harvard MBA program. In that year, the students were asked, "Have you set clear, written goals for your future and made plans to accomplish them?" Just three percent of the students had written goals; 13% did have goals, but not written; and a massive eighty-four percent didn't have specific goals.

Ten years on and the students were interviewed once more.The findings, while a little predictable, were very much astonishing. The 13% who had goals were earning twice as much (on average) as the 84 who didn't have any. The learning point here though is the about the 3% who had clear and written goals. On average, they were earning TEN TIMES as much as the other 97 percent put together.

A business plan is a logical explanation of how you intend your business to achieve its goals. Do you think you should write one?

The biggest reason I always tell a small business owner is to keep a list is to have a good record or history of what you are doing. That to me is more valuable than anything else. Record keeping should be the number one thing of owning a business.

Lists are great and they are also great motivators of agenda. List helped me build a portfolio of facts about my business. List helped me redo my business plan. Confidence is essentially an attitude. Having a confident state of mind and secure self-esteem is something that comes from within YOU and ONLY YOU. Many people consider confidence as a result of a particular achievement or status. For example, they think "when I'm slim and beautiful, I'll be more confident", or "when I've made a success of myself and I'm driving a Ferrari, I'll have all the confidence in the world" or "if I weren't such a loser, I would be more confident". People who lack confidence and self-esteem often feel that they have no control over their lives, that they were born ugly, or poor or stupid. You have to realize that self-confidence is not dependent on your achievements or status (or perceived lack thereof). And that confidence can be learned and developed with practice and the right techniques.

Remember too that a lack of self-confidence is an extremely common worry for many and you are not only in your fears.

GETTING INTO A CONFIDENT STATE
Remember the last time you felt truly confident and happy. Perhaps you received a prize at school, or your father once praised you for a particular achievement. It does not matter how big or small the actual achievement was: you are simply trying to replicate the emotion of feeling totally confident. Close your eyes and recall that emotion in as much detail as possible. Remember your physical feeling, your emotions, the sounds around you, the colors, the smells and environment. It does not matter if you don't recall every detail straight away, with practice you will develop a clearer mental picture. Practice bringing that feeling of confidence back again and again until you can summon that confident state almost immediately. Now, whenever you are in a stressful state or need a confidence boost, bring back that feeling. It might take some practice at first. Do not worry if you don't get it the first few times. Try to practice it everyday for about one month. If you require a certain trigger to help you recall that feeling then use it. I find that if I attach a song to that emotion, then all I need to do is play it loudly on my earphones, and I can immediately recall it.

SMILE AND WALK TALL
Look in the mirror and give a big, deep smile. Straighten your shoulders, put your head up and walk tall. If you act confident, you will feel more confident. Your mind and body are capable of incredible things.

BE AWARE OF YOUR BREATHING
If you need to, slow down your breathing. During stressful moments, be aware of your breathing. Focus on making each breath deeper and slower and you will gradually feel more calm and confident.

USE POSITIVE LANGUAGE
Use positive language as much as possible. Avoid phrases such as
- "I'm not good at"
- "I can't"
- "I shouldn't"
- "I have to"
- "But..."
- "Alright for some"

BE POSITIVE TOWARDS OTHERS
If we are positive towards others, they are more likely to be positive towards you. Try to be positive, polite and as nice as possible to people around you. Focus on them, listening and empathizing with their situation and you are likely to receive a similar response back.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT PEOPLE WHO CONSTANTLY BATTER YOUR CONFIDENCE
Remember that self-confidence comes from you and not from others. If you have someone who is constantly putting you down, you could try and avoid contact with them, but you could also try to turn their words into a positive. You might have a parent who is always telling you to save more money, get a girlfriend, lose weight, work harder, be more like someone else. Whenever you hear these words just say to yourself "they are only saying these things because they love me and want the best for me. I love mom and her comments because she only wants the best for me".

CONFIDENCE WILL COME
Like many things in life, having confidence takes practice. Do not expect it to come overnight. If you are shy in public places, the more practice you have meeting people, the better you will become at confident, social interactions. Just keep working at your confidence and self-esteem little by little and the results will come.

One, they possess a burning desire to succeed or accomplish more than they already have. That desire comes from within, It is that feeling you have when you get up in the morning they propels you out of the house to accomplish more than you accomplished the day before. Automated systems are what Henry Ford, Ray Kroc, Sam Walton, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Donald Trump all utilized to become very wealthy in their time, and create a legacy in their respective industries right up to today and in the future.
Four, they recognize and understand their system must provide unlimited leverage to achieve their success. This is the real power in becoming successful in any business today. You have to be able to access the power of leveraging, the ability to attract the masses to your product or service that will buy your product or service, in essence make you money, while you sleep, 24 hours a day, 7 days week, whether you do anything to work your business..... 2. Get yourself focused on the prize you wish to achieve. No matter what your goals are stay focused.
